Here we're discussing the materials and products used in our window work to determine how to describe them in the standards.
The Standards will not name any specific products. Instead, generic terms and descriptions will be used. This is to assure the Standards are without bias and that there are no conflicts of interest.
Here at the Forum it is OK to name and talk about specific products to learn how to best name and describe them for the Standards.
For example, many of us use Sarco Type M Putty. "Sarco Type M Putty" could not be used in the Standards, because this is a specific product.
It could be called :
Traditional Knife-Grade Putty
and described as:
A putty made with whiting (calcium carbonate), and drying vegetable oils with driers added to enhance quick skin over.
This name and description could be used in the Standards.
